HISTORY

Nationally

ACM was founded in 1947 and has grown to be the oldest and largest computing society in the world. ACM is an international and educational organization with members in more than 100 countries.

Here at Wayne State College

Wayne State College's chapter was officially created in 1998 thanks in large part to one student Russ Volk who pursued to establish an ACM chapter here at Wayne State under his own initiative. In 2001 ACM welcomed the Computer Club into its ranks. Then in 2002 ACM set its sights internationally by the creation of the Computers for Uganda project.
