Here are the steps one must take to become a member of Lambda Phi Omega:

RUSH

  • Approximate Times
    • Both Fall and Spring Rush begin the first full week of each semester. Each will consist of five events.
    • Summer Rush is usually heald over Wayne's Chicken Days, but can be held any weekend during the summer, Friday night to Sunday morning.

PLEDGE INTERVIEW

  • Scheduling
    • Sign-up for the pledge interviews are during the last half of the rush events.
    • Interviews will be held within one week of the last rush event.

ACCEPTANCE TO PLEDGE

  • Those who hae shown positive interest.
  • Those who have a 2.0 GPA or higher.
  • Those that have Interview Board approval.
    • An invitation will be sent to those who are accepted to pledge Lambda Phi Omega.

PLEDGE EDUCATION

  • The pledge Process lasts six to eight weeks depending on time
    • One Pledge Class will be held per week.
    • Each Pledge Class will be approximately one hour long.
    • Pledges and Pledge Educator will determine location and time of class.
  • Signature Sheet
    • Each Pledge will make a signature sheet that will consist of name, nickname, office, hometown, interesting fact, major of each Active Member, Advisor(s) Pledges and date. Be creative!
    • Sheets may be passed around before or after Lambda Phi Omega activities.
    • The signature sheet may not be signed after 5 p.m. on Mondays.
    • The signature sheet has to be completed and handed in before the final test.
    • One point is taken off the final test score for each Active Member, Advisor(s), and Pledge signature missing.
  • Family Tree
    • Each pledge will make a family tree that consists of all branches beginning with a founding sister and ending with them.
    • Their Big Sister should give the family tree to the Pledge.
  • Test and Quizzes
    • Everyone will be separated from each other, and no Lambda Phi Omega T-shirts can be worn.
      o Quizzes must average a total of 90% and final test must score 90% or higher.
      • The Executive Bard may make expectations for special circumstances.
    • Everyone is allowed one make-up quiz, if needed because of low quiz scores.
  • Pledge Pin
    • The Pledge Pin should be worn at ALL times when on campus. This includes dorms, weekend campus activities, and Sunday nights.
      • Substitute pins may only be worn if original Pledge Pin is lost or broken. One-half pint will be deducted if the pin is not replaced within 24 hours.
    • If a Pledge goes off-campus to consume alcohol they should use their best judgement when returning to campus on whether they should wear their letters.
    • One point is deducted for not wearing Pledge Pin at all times during the Pledge Process.
    • The design of the Pledge Pin should be left to the discretion of the Pledge Educator.

FINAL PLEDGE INTERVIEWS

  • These interviews will take place within one week of the final test.
  • Interviews will be conducted by the Interview Board, which will consists of members as previously stated.

TERMS OF ACCEPTANCE TO ACTIVATE

  • If the Pledge is not accepted by Lambda Phi Omega, they must wait one full semester to pledge again.
  • Any Pledge that leaves any Wayne State College sorority on bad terms during their Pledge Process must wait one full semester before being eligible to pledge Lambda Phi Omega.
  • If the Pledge fails to finish the Lambda Phi Omega Pledge Process due to personal reasons, they will be eligible to pledge the next semester.
