Facilities

Wayne State Rugby Football Club has 3 Non-Varsity game fields that are used under the Student Activities Office on campus. All 3 of these fields are plush grass, and by far the softest rugby pitches around.

Three other fields are located next to the rugby fields. These fields are the practice fields for varsity football and soccer fields. This brings a total of 6 playing areas right behind the WSC Football Stadium and Rec Center parking lot.

In late February, when we start rugby back up again for the 2nd semester, we can use the REC Center after closing time. Being indoors in a building 100 yards X 55 yards does help us prepare for the upcoming March schedule.

OPENING IN THE SEPTEMBER OF 2004
Tompkins RUGBY Park

A 12-Acre rugby complex located 8 blocks off-campus.
Located on East 4th street, this 4-field rugby complex will be the finest rugby facility in the Mid-West.

2-Practice Fields 70X120 yards
1-Match Pitch 76 X 124 yards
1-Social Field 70 X 120 yards

Match pitch built into a bowl, and able to seat 1,500 fans

Located next to the Wayne Softball Complex, a concession stand, adequate parking, indoor public restrooms are already located next to the rugby park. An 18-foot digital scoreboard and locker room has already been purchased. With th considerateion of the power source from the softball lights just 50 yards away, Rugby night games with lights are also being planned.

Rod Tompkins, CEO of Heritage Homes donated the finances needed to build this Rugby Park, from bare ground. Besides boosting up the level of competition and teams to the yearly Wayne Tournament, USA rugby playoff games being hosted by the City of Wayne are not out of the question after 2004.
