advertising another 28 team tournament, topped off with a
stadium match up in front of 1,200 fans. Iowa St. men and
U. of N. Iowa will play in the stadium along with Wayne St.
Women VS Palmer College.
All games have been play by play over the FM-Air Waves. Challenge
Cup III and IV were rebroadcasted on the local cable stations,
so first time rugby fans could get a 2nd chance to watch the
game with great curiosity.
With the great tag team radio play-by-play of Keith
Dalton, Dan Morgan and Angus McTavish, area sports
fans were treated to the non-stop hard-hitting action of rugby
and the great comedy of the radio show personalities.
With Airline Tickets given
away to any destination in the USA by Southwest Airlines,
along with VCR’s, TV’s and many other products,
an afternoon at the rugby game was much more exciting then
a typical Friday night high school football game.
Simply because rugby is different then any other
sport on or off of the field. These games have also boosted
interest in playing rugby in the tri-state area and have established
teams in Sioux City, Iowa, Wayne State Men and Women’s
side from Wayne, Nebraska and a future team out of either
Norfolk/Wayne, Nebraska for a men’s NON-College side.
6 High Schools have now put rugby into their spring sports
programs.
The sky is the limit with the hottest game in the Great Plains
coming to a stadium near you.
