What's NEW?
Both the Wayne
State men and women were crowned Great Plains Rugby Champs
in their very first year of League Play. Great
Plains League play is played on a home and home game basis
during the months of March, April, September and October.
The winner that is crowned in late October, will advance to
USA Rugby playoffs the following April.
The 12-Acre, Tompkins
Rugby Park will be ¾ completed by July of 2004.
4 Rugby pitches will be topped off with an Official International
Rugby Board pitch that will be 76.6 yards wide, and is built
into a "BOWL" setting with enough room to hold 1,500 fans.
Rod Tompkins owner of Heritage Homes in Wayne,
Nebraska paid for the expenses from this ground up project.
Riley's Pub/Santa Fe Grill who is part
owned by Chuck Naveed and Rod Tompkins are also behind a 2-acre
social area located next to the stadium and will be a great
setting for social time and "Rugby Brotherhood" after a hard
fought match.
The first game at Tompkins Rugby Park
is scheduled in Sept. of 2004.
