Fan Fiction
"It all began with the passing of the Great Law years ago. It was written that society was responsible for forming the best citizens for the sake of their futures. Now, a statement like that may be well and good, but not when taken so literally as the people did."

Ron's SF&F Club Advisor/Member Page

Ron Vick, MA, LPC
Counselor/International Student Advisor

I have been one of the Wayne State College Science Fiction and Fantasy Club's advisors since 1997. After Stan approached our office about having the support of another advisor, I joined the Club in its second or third meeting and have been involved since, and I do not regret the decision (usually).

I do a lot of the organization for WillyCon and try to make it as easy as possible for the students to do the hard work of running the convention. We have had some exceptional guests, and the core group of attendees are wonderful people to know. It is a good experience for the students and I think they have a lot of fun (despite the long hours and hard work!).

The website you are viewing was designed by Jeff Piper, a former student and Club member. It has been awhile, but if I remeber correctly Jeff was also the person who designed our logo. Currently he is on staff as the designer for the WSC website. The information and structure of the SF & F Club's website is something I do in my spare time, along with about nine other sites on and off campus.

My interest in science fiction and fantasy is what drew me to become involved with this Club. I am an avid reader and science fiction and fantasy are my preferred choices when it comes to reading material. My favorite author is Alan Dean Foster, but I will read anything, written by any author, that peaks my interest. I'm also interested in movies and writing. I am a "wannabe" writer and have written several short stories. Two of these have been winners for our Short Story Contest and one was bought and published online. You can read one of my stories here, if you are interested.
