Dane Jessen came to Wayne State in 2005 after graduating from Homer High School. During childhood Dane was introduced to Star Trek at a very young age, thanks to his mother. Dane developed a love for science fiction shows and movies. Growing up Dane became interested in the games Settlers of Catan and Magic the Gathering, thanks to friends and family. When Dane got to college his interest expanded more in to video games like Halo (thanks Michael and Bren) and strategy games like Risk and Axis and Allies. He still loves a bad Sci-Fi movie on Saturday night. Through college Dane was involved with Sci-Fi club from the start. |
Through his college years Dane was actively involved with haunted house, specifically the maze portion. He held different offices through the years, ranging from PR to his senior year as Vice President. Dane was involved in many flyer campaigns, where many trees were killed to spread the word of the club. Dane graduated from Wayne in May 2009 with a degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Studio arts, and is currently working at Genelli Studio in Sioux City IA. After college Dane continues his interest in science fiction movies and TV shows, and with board games. He made a four foot by six foot Axis and Allies board. Dane has also found an interest in reading short fiction stories.
Christy Jessen came to Wayne State in 2005 after graduating from Wakefield High School. During childhood Christy wasn't introduced to science fiction from her family, but discovered a love for it on her own. Christy was good friends with many members of the club but did not become an official member until after working on the haunted house her sophomore year. Christy was involved in the ticket booth at the Haunted House, and registration desk at Willycon. Christy had an interest during college in board games, science fiction movies and TV shows. Christy graduated from Wayne in May 2011 with a degree in Human Service Counseling, and is currently working at Parkview Homes as the Recreation Director. After college Christy enjoys watching science fiction shows with Dane, and playing board games with friends when she can.
Dane and Christy met through mutual friends, and became closer through Sci-Fi club. They were blessed March 31st 2009 with the birth of their son Jesse James Lee Jessen. Jesse attended his first WillyCon the weekend after he was born and has been there every year since. Dane asked Christy to marry him at their house warming party surrounded by family and friends. They were married April 17th 2010 in Sioux City. After college Dane and Christy stay involved with Sci-Fi club through Haunted House and Willycon, and plan to raise their son in the ways of the dark side. |
