Regular Meeting – December 5, 2003

Marian Borgmann-Ingwerson attended the meeting to discuss the general education committee and what action the committee has taken up to this point and what is planned for the future.

The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Lin; a quorum was present

Treasurer’s Report: No Report

Committee Reports:

Mentoring (Brummels) – The mentoring program is on hold until the new HR person arrives on campus.
Social (Spethman) – No Report.
Recognition (DeBoer) – No Report.
Continuing Education (Gardner) – About 25 people attended the history of WSC speaker. The committee is working on something additional for the spring.
Membership (Polenske) – No Report.
Hospitality (Weber) -- The courtesy club fund has a balance of $160.04. There was no income or expenses for the month. Kevin Halle was sent a get-well card.
Policy (Bulock) – No Report.
Communications (Smith) -- Ruth has continued to send out communication via email when asked.

Agenda Items:

Lin discussed the possibility of putting together a process for the Administration to follow regarding the cuts of staff during the budget cut process. The written policy would need to be approved by the president and the board. An impact statement needs to be created and a staff review committee needs to be formed as two of the first steps.

The Presidential search committee has narrowed the search to 15 or 16 candidates. They are planning to narrow the number to 7 or 8 and conduct airport interviews with those individuals.

Ruth gave an update on the HR candidate search. A candidate is scheduled to be on campus December 8th. One candidate scheduled to have a campus interview withdrew their name. Another candidate postponed the interview due to a family medical emergency.

The next regular meeting will be January 9th in the Goldenrod Room of the Student Center.
