Professional Staff Senate
Regular Meeting – August 6, 2004
Senators Present: Lin Brummels, Brandon Eckmann, Eddie Elfers, Cheri Polenske, Dorothy Weber
Senators absent: Derek Anderson, Dave Graber
Guests: Michelle Meyer, The SAVE Program and Carolyn Murphy, Administration
and Finance

Lin called the meeting to order at 9:30; a quorum was present.
The June minutes were approved as written. M-Dorothy S-Cheri.
Committee reports:
- Mentoring (Brummels) Each senate (Faculty Senate, Support Staff Senate
and Professional Staff Senate) will elect 4 mentors to serve as mentors.
The Professional Staff Senate will elect mentors at the recognition brunch.
- Social (Eckmann) A potluck is possible for September
- Recognition (Anderson) The recognition brunch is set for August 12th, brunch is provided by the President’s office. College relations will be taking pictures of the recipients of the service awards. Each committee will give a brief overview of their respective committee.
- Continuing Education (Graber) No Report
- Membership (Polenske) Cheri will run a new excel sheet of the membership
and distribute to the senators.
- Hospitality (Weber) A get well card was sent to Cheri Polenske and a
sympathy card to Jeannine Wriedt. Cards and gifts were sent to two families
to welcome the arrival of their new babies, Kathy Mohfeld and Linc Morris.
- The balance in the courtesy club fund is $135.00.
- Dorothy will have a collection box at the recognition brunch to
collect funds for the courtesy club.
- Policy No Report
- Communication (Elfers) Eddie is sending information out as it comes in.
Agenda Items:
*Michelle Meyer spoke about the SAVE (Sexual Assault Response Plan) program and brought a draft of the response plan to be submitted to the President’s and NCS system offices for approval. For more information call the SAVE Program at 375-7321.
*Carolyn Murphy spoke about the changes to the college’s insurance plans. Several changes were noted and more information will be available at the opening staff and faculty meetings.
*Professional staff department grant applications are due by 9/1/04.
*The athletic department has been contacted to elect a representative to fill their position on the senate.
The next regular meeting will be Friday 9:30 A.M. September 3, 2004, Bluestem.
