Professional Staff Senate
Regular Meeting – September 3, 2004
Senators Present: Derek Anderson, Lin Brummels, Brandon Eckmann, Dave Graber, Cheri Polenske, Dorothy Weber

Liaisons from Other Senates Present: Bill Long
Lin called the meeting to order at 9:40; a quorum was present.
The August minutes were approved as written.
Committee reports:
- Mentoring (Brummels) The Professional Staff Senate Mentors will be Lin Brummels, Dorothy Weber, Pat Meehan and Phyllis Spethman. The mentor training will be scheduled soon.
- Social (Eckmann) A potluck has been scheduled for September.

- Continuing Education (Graber) No Report
- Membership (Polenske) No Report
- Hospitality (Weber) A sympathy card was sent to Ralph Barclay. A card and gift were sent to Marlon Brink and his family to welcome the arrival of their new baby. The balance in the courtesy club fund is $200.06. 24 out of 96 members have paid. Derek proposed to designate the hospitality dues to be used as a general fund for the PSS and to keep the dues at $3.00. The proposal was approved.

- Communication (Elfers) Eddie is sending information out as it comes in.
Agenda Items:
Two Professional staff department grants were approved by the senate.
1) Dorothy Weber to purchase ESL software.
2) A trial version of the Safe Ride program proposed by Kathy Mohlfeld.
The athletic department has been contacted to elect a representative to fill their position on the senate.
The next regular meeting will be Friday 11:00 A.M. October 8, 2004, Bluestem.
