Professional Staff Senate
Meeting Minutes
2/4/05
Present: Dorothy Weber, Dave Graber, Derek Anderson, Lin Brummels, Eddie Elfers, Oliver Twelvetrees
Absent: Cheri Polenske, Brandon Eckmann
Student Senate Representative: Lacey Schwochow
The meeting was called to order at 11:05 Motion was made and seconded to
approved minutes from the past meeting.
Committee Reports:
- Mentoring: No report.
- Social: No report.
- Recognition: No report – follow plan for 8/11/05.
- Continuing Education: Dave reported that a History of WSC program is being planned for spring and will probably be held in April.
- Membership: No report.
- Hospitality: No cards were sent this month. Dorothy reported that we have $205.26 in the account.
- Policy: Reviewed the HR Search regulations as there seems to be some confusion about how this process involves supervisors in the search process. Oliver mentioned that Athletics has proposed an increase in student fees to support athletics.
- Communication: Eddie reported that the Professional Staff Senate link is on the e-campus page accessible to everyone.
The Senators discussed how the professional grants from the WSC Foundation were progressing. It was agreed that Lin will meet with Foundation staff to discuss the possibility of offering the program development grant option again in 2005-06. A request for professional development funds for professional staff will also be made.
Future considerations: The Senators present would like to monitor campus searches in process and participate in any open interviews. Although specific time slots were not afforded the Professional Staff Senate for the VPAA search, Senators were encouraged to attend one of the open sessions. Senators also wish to continue to participate in the General Education revision discussions.
The meeting adjourned at 12:00. The next meeting will be March 18, 2005
at 11:00 in the Meadowlark Room (please note – this is a room change
from the usual meeting room).
