Professional Staff Senate
Meeting Minutes
9/2/05
Present: Derek Anderson, Lin Brummels, Brandon Eckmann, Oliver Twelvetrees, Dave Graber
Absent: Eddie Elfers, Kevin Halle, Tammy Tyson
The meeting was called to order at 11:00, a quorum was present.
The August minutes were approved.
Committee Reports:
- Mentoring: Report below.
- Social: Brandon reported he is planning a fall get-together –
details will be available soon.
Recognition: Derek was thanked for planning a great Recognition Brunch in August. Mark your calendars for the Recognition Program on August 10, 2006. - Continuing Education: Dave is looking for continuing education ideas. Send suggestions to Dave.
- Membership: Membership will be monitored by Eddie Elfers.
- Hospitality: No report.
- Policy: No Report.
- Communication: Eddie continues to forward email notifications to the
membership.
Parking Committee: Carolyn Murphy asked for a volunteer for an ad hoc campus parking committee. Derek Anderson will be the Professional Staff Senate representative to that committee. Dave will notify Carolyn about Derek serving on this committee.
Mentoring: The Mentoring Program will be initiated this fall. Due to a previous mentor (Pat Mehan) leaving WSC, a new professional staff mentor will need to be identified. Lin volunteered to serve as the Professional Staff Senate representative on the Mentoring Oversight Committee. A second mentor will need to be identified to replace Lin as the Mentoring Committee determined that people should not be both a mentor and be part of the oversight committee. Lin will send a note out to professional staff asking for volunteers.
The PSS voted to donate $25 to WSC for the American Red Cross disaster relief fund. The group asked Tammy Tyson to write a check and submit it to this relief fund on behalf of the PSS.
Meeting adjourned. The next meeting will be October 7th in the Bluestem Room. Dave will contact new Senators to find the best time of day. The meeting is currently set at 11:00. Dave will notify the group if this changes.
