Professional Staff Senate Meeting Minutes
April 5th, 2006

Call to order:

Dave Graber, chair, called to order the regular meeting of the WSC Professional Staff Senate at 11:00AM on April 5th, 2006

Attendance:

The following Senators were present: Dave Graber, Derek Anderson, Lin Brummels, Eddie Elfers, Kevin Halle.

Absent: Tammy Tyson, Oliver Twelvetrees, Brandon Eckmann.

Student Rep: Brett Burns Support Staff representative: Bill Long

Approval of minutes from last meeting:

The minutes from the March 1st meeting were approved accordingly.

Committee Reports:

Mentoring: No new hires
Social: No Report
Recognition: Event on schedule. Derek is working with HR
Continuing Ed: No Report
Membership: No Report
Hospitality: No Report
Policy: No Report
Communication: No Report

New business:

VPAF candidates’ schedules are out. No resumes have been seen. The Professional Staff Senate will meet with each candidate next week.
Lin discussed the Employee Recognition award. She spoke with Dr. Collings about the award. He supports a twice-a-year award. She will follow up with him on Friday the 7th as he will have discussed the award with the Human Resources office by then.
Support staff has discussed summer hours. Both Chadron and Peru close at 1:00 p.m. on Fridays during the summer. Discussion was held.
A total of six grant applications have been received for consideration for a Professional Staff Program Grant. Discussion was held on each application. A few are up for renewal and a few are new proposals. Dave will ask a few students to review the program grant applications. The Senate will make formal recommendations at the May meeting.
Professional Staff Development grant applications were also reviewed and will be submitted accordingly.
Lin asked if the parking committee has met as of yet. It was noted that the committee has not met yet, but may soon.
Elections will be up for a few Senators. Lin will notify Dave about whose seat is up for election.
